These are the New York State Department of Health Clinical Guidelines for Early Intervention providers as they relate to Feeding milestones, possible problems, and components of a feeding assessment.

12 to 18 | All textures | Lateral tongue action | Independent feeding increases |
18 to 24 | More chewable food | Rotary chewing | Increased control of utensils |
24 + | Tougher solids | Increase in mature chewing for tougher solids | Total self-feeding |
